- A NAF implementation that supports NAF 1.0 or later. For example: NAF‑J.
- The Java NAF API version 1.0 or later.
Please consult the Nimbus installation manual on how to get up and running. We hope you enjoy using Nimbus! Please don't forget to give us some feedback once you've given it a try. Thanks!
NAF‑J
NAF‑J is our reference NAF implementation and it is currently at version 1.0. NAF provides the underlying functionality that Nimbus clients use to discover each other over networks, but it has been designed so that many other applications can take advantage of its features too. Have a look at our collection of demo applications to get an idea of what NAF can be used for besides Nimbus.
You will also need to have the following items installed in order to run NAF‑J:
- A Java 1.4 runtime environment or later. For example: Sun's JRE.
- The NAF‑J XML bindings version 1.0 or later.
If you would like Bluetooth® support enabled you will also need this:
- A JSR-82 implementation. For example: Rococo's Impronto Developer Kit.
Please consult the NAF installation manual on how to get up and running. To learn more about NAF and how you can use it in your own application please check out the NAF website.
Components
The following components provide low-level functionality shared by NAF‑J, Nimbus‑J and other NAF-related programs.
Java NAF API
The Java NAF API provides a simple Java interface for programmers to build NAF applications. Nimbus‑J is an example of an application built using this API. The most recent version is 1.0.
You will need the following item installed in order to use the Java NAF API:
- The NAF‑J XML bindings version 1.0 or later.
Please consult the API installation manual on how to get up and running.
If you are interested in developing your own NAF applications using this API be sure to check out the programmer's documentation. A collection of demo applications is also available to help you learn. Happy hacking!
NAF‑J XML bindings
The NAF‑J XML bindings are used by NAF‑J and the Java NAF API to process NAF XML messages. The most recent version is 1.0.
You will need the following item installed in order to use the NAF‑J XML bindings:
- A JAXB implementation. For example: Sun's Java Web Services Developer Pack
Please consult the XML bindings installation manual on how to get up and running.
